how it all started...

Mathias Roten, a professional Paraglider and Ueli Kestenholz, a professional Snowboarder had a common dream of producing their own movie. The goal was to be able to display their point of view of their respective sport. The brandnew sport of Speedriding was the perfect link between their sports to bring them together.

They started riding together in 2006. The flying knowledge of Mathias paired with the freeriding experience of Ueli, along with their common stoke and motivation was the perfect base for a great team! Unlike other athletes in the world of extreme-sports, Mathias and Ueli didn't think that "gravity sucks"! To play rather than fighting with gravity was their motto. So the team-name "Playgravity" seemed to be appropriate...

They found pleasure not only in riding together but to document the rides by filming each other with their helmet-cameras. Within a short time they've created some stunning follow-cam-footage. This intensified their wish of creating their own multisport-movie. It was then Samuel Gyger, cameraman and filmmaker who shot the first outside-camera footage of the two and helped them to further develop the idea of "Playgravity - the movie".

For Ueli and Mathias' breakthrough-project, the speedriding-descent of the famous Swiss mountains Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, Samuel brought the Bäbler brothers on board. With Martin mainly focusing on filming while Walter also composes music, these two young filmers were a important add-on to the crew. Filmed with 6 different Camera-angles, the footage of these descents (all done in one day) was something the world has never seen before!

While Ueli was riding the steepest Alaskan faces on his snowboard, Mat was showing his enormous flying-skills while soaring the dunes or showing stunning acrobatic maneuvers the world has never seen out of such a perspective. Further related sports such as kitesurfing, skydiving, climbing or Basejumping were performed by Mathias and Ueli as well as by their friends Stefan Klaus, Ueli Gegenschatz and Stefan Siegrist.

Edited by Yves Gründler, Playgravity-the movie became not just another sports movie but a contemporary document that can fascinate not only insiders but a broad audience! With her outstanding graphics and webdesign, Petra Wolf gave Playgravity it's unique look that again stands out from the masses! With this great teamwork, the crew made the transfer from a dream to a award winning movie at several international filmfestivals!
